Coming up with a good marketing campaign is difficult. You want to be original, it needs to resonate with your target audience, and ultimately, you want to see results. One form of marketing is “Guerrilla marketing.” Guerrilla marketing is a marketing technique that combines traditional marketing tools with limited resources to achieve significant results. The term is derived from the concept of guerrilla warfare, where a small army overpowers a large army by employing special guerrilla techniques. In this blog, we provide 5 tips for devising an original marketing campaign.

Original and 1. Capitalize on current events

The way to maintain regular contact with your target audience! Come up with topical campaigns for, for example, Valentine's Day, King's Day, or the upcoming World Cup! But of course, you can also start your own current events. For instance, someone once started “Movember” (a combination of the English word 'moustache' and 'November'). This is an annual event to raise awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's health in general. The foundation does this. Movember Foundation by asking men to grow a moustache during the month of November to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

2. Make use of the streetscape

This is a top strategy to get noticed! One that is widely used. There are countless great examples to be found. Sometimes it is enough to have your promotion on the street for just a short time; if it is original enough, people will take photos and post them online. And now let's hope the photo goes viral across the internet….

3. Create goodwill among your target audience

Guerrilla marketing is about creating goodwill and increasing your likeability by offering something positive. Guerrilla actions are often intended to make people laugh. Laughter creates a positive feeling; if customers experience a positive feeling from your marketing campaign, they are more likely to have a more positive feeling about your product or service as well.

4. Ensure interaction with your target audience

There is actually no easier way to engage with your target audience than through social media. Through various posts and campaigns, you can ensure that your target audience feels connected to your company. If the campaign is original enough, many people will talk about it on the internet. Actively engage in online interaction with potential customers.

5. Think “out of the box”

The last tip is easier said than done. Our brain has infinite potential. Unfortunately, we do not use our brain optimally. Due to a fixed pattern of acting and thinking, we are often less creative and think less “out of the box.” We inhibit the creative part of our brain, as it were. Every person has the ability to learn to think creatively. You can learn to think more creatively, among other things, by training your brain. Compare it to an athlete. By practicing and training a lot, the athlete gets better and better. This also applies to creative thinking: train your brain intensively, and you will become an increasingly creative thinker.
