Change management: Does your company still have a right to exist? The medicine: Change

Today's society is changing enormously, which means that your business model becomes outdated more quickly and you therefore have to look for new options to guarantee the existence of your company. But how do you ensure that your organization continues to change and adapt?

Every company sooner or later needs to change, whether you are a small or a large player in the market, the conclusion remains the same: Corporate change management is essential in this regard.

“Change management is necessary for the continuity of your company.”

In the past, you could last quite a while with one good business model, but nowadays that is no longer possible. Today's society is changing enormously, which means that your business model becomes outdated more quickly and you therefore have to look for new options to guarantee the existence of your company. But how do you ensure that your organization continues to change and adapt?

It is important that we first consider the word “change”.
What exactly does this mean? We often immediately think of new developments such as entering new markets, developing new products or purchasing expensive new products. However, this is not always necessary. The official definition of change is:

“The omission, removal, addition or replacement of any part or parts”.

A change does not always have to be a major intervention, although many people think of that when they hear the word change.

Everyone has their own approach and change management company

If you ask ten directors or managers what they mean by change management, you will probably get ten different answers. Every company has its own learning curve. It is therefore obvious that every company needs a different approach, which is why it is necessary to first analyze your company thoroughly. Are your employees, strategies, current corporate culture and processes in balance? What is the current status of your organization? Where do you want to go? These are all questions that you must continually ask yourself in order to stay on top of today's society.

What is important in change management and why?

Soft side

In change management we deal with multiple aspects. It is not only a process with attention to the technical aspects and the organizational structure, but also attention to the 'soft side' (your employees). This side of change is becoming increasingly important. The employees largely determine the success of a change, so it is extremely important to properly communicate the change to the employees and to properly guide the change process. Change is difficult and cannot happen overnight.

Think small first, then big

People often dread changes and especially when it comes to major changes. This is because they make the change too big. They think in terms of perfection. They focus blindly on the end goal. But why do people immediately think so big? The trick is to think small first and build it into something big. When we look at nature, we see that changes usually occur very gradually. In such small steps that it is hardly noticeable... until the result is gigantic.

  • From seed to tree.
  • From breeze to storm.
  • Even a tsunami starts as a wave.

The trick is to implement a change so smoothly that we hardly notice it. Therefore, start with small changes first and then expand them. The end result is ultimately a major change that is achieved in small steps. This way, your employees can slowly apply and accept the changes and the change within your company will be a great success.
