About Jacco van Beek

Business improver/trainer

For over twenty years, Jacco van Beek worked in trade, production, logistics, and business services companies. Since 2007, he has applied that analytical perspective as a trainer at Kenneth Smit. He investigates how an organization functions by identifying bottlenecks, the patterns that determine collaboration, and the behaviors that help people move forward. As a result, every program is tailor-made.

Before the training, Jacco speaks with each participant individually. Using tools such as Insights Discovery, DISC behavioral styles, and motivational analyses, he maps out what someone wants to develop and which behavioral patterns play a role in this. This allows Jacco to determine, for each participant, which questions, exercises, and feedback yield the best results. He seeks confrontation when it helps break a pattern and provides space when the situation calls for it.

As an experienced trombonist, Jacco knows how important listening, timing, and improvisation are for good ensemble playing. And even after more than fifty years, practice makes perfect. It works the same way in teams: progress occurs when people respond to one another and dare to deviate from ingrained patterns. That is why Jacco works with what participants bring to the table in his training sessions. This creates a training where analysis, personal attention, and improvisation come together.

It is the tone that makes the music what it is!

From trust to results

Teams and managers learn to hold open conversations, leverage differences, take responsibility, and translate agreements into visible behavior.

Strong teams articulate what they need from each other. They share diverse ideas and perspectives, make clear choices, and know what to expect from one another. Jacco van Beek helps teams and managers adopt this way of working together.

Participants practice naming behavior, asking probing questions, making clear agreements, and conducting conversations that lead to action. By applying these skills again in subsequent sessions, they become part of the daily way of leading and collaborating.

In doing so, Jacco van Beek explicitly looks at the person behind the behavior. Drawing on his experience in coaching and stress management, he understands how resilience influences learning, communication, and functioning. He helps managers recognize signals earlier and conduct conversations in such a way that employees feel comfortable sharing what is going on. His guiding principle remains the same: gentle with the person, tough on the problem.
