Disadvantages and advantages of boomerang employees

Easy reintegration

When these employees return to your company, they are already familiar with the company culture and some of the staff. That is why it is often easier for them to reintegrate into a company. This can save your company a lot of time.

Broader oriented

Boomerang employees have worked at other companies. They have stepped out of their comfort zone and tried something new. Chances are they acquired new skills at those other companies as well. This staff can return with a new vision and a new way of working. Perhaps this is even a way you had never considered yourself. In this way, you can also learn from your boomerang employees.

Driven and eager to learn

The reason why boomerang employees go to work at other companies often has to do with their desire to learn more and grow. They are not afraid to switch to another company to realize this. These driven and eager to learn individuals are often a good asset to your company.

The disadvantages of boomerang employees

Investment

Employees who have been given the opportunity to develop themselves considerably and have enjoyed working within your company have a greater chance of returning. So don't be afraid to invest and bond with the employee, this will leave you with a better current and perhaps future employee.

Old sore

The boomerang employee may still have old problems with other colleagues. So try to think carefully about why this colleague left the company. Was this a one-off reason or would the employee simply resign when he or she receives a better offer?

Do not try to give the boomerang employee priority over another, perhaps more suitable candidate. The fact that they have already worked for you can certainly be an advantage, but does not always have to be decisive.

Reason that employees come back

Boomerang employees regularly return to a previous company due to the colleagues, work atmosphere, and pleasant management/ managers . However, they retain their desire for challenges and growth opportunities. Perhaps these employees initially left because they had too few opportunities for advancement or challenge within your company. The moment challenging new positions become available within the company, there is a chance that you will see one or two of your former employees return.

Dealing with objections

Objections are not rejections, but opportunities. When a customer raises an objection, they are indicating that they are considering your proposal. That is positive. The key is to take the objection seriously, to ask about the underlying reason, and then to respond in a targeted manner. Not by dismissing the objection, but by showing that you understand what is on the customer's mind.

An effective technique is acknowledging the objection before responding. “I understand that the investment is substantial” works better than immediately becoming defensive. By showing acknowledgment, the customer feels heard and is more open to your perspective. You can then use concrete examples and calculations to demonstrate the return on investment.
