Explainable Rewards: Wage Transparency Training for Managers

About this training

Conducting salary negotiations with wage transparency

You lead a team, and an employee walks in asking why a colleague in the same position earns more. Until now, you could refer to the confidentiality of salary information. With the introduction of the Wage Transparency Act, scheduled for January 1, 2027, that changes. From that moment on, your employees are entitled to an answer: how their compensation is structured and how it compares to the average for equivalent work. During this two-day training, you will learn how to explain salary differences, how to allow space for the emotions involved, and how to connect the conversation to development, responsibilities, and growth.

For Whom

This training is intended for supervisors, managers, and board members who conduct conversations about salary and compensation. They will receive tools to provide clear explanations when employees ask questions about salary differences or the structure of their compensation. The training is suitable for a maximum of 8 participants (minimum 4), allowing sufficient opportunity to practice with situations from their own work. A separate version is available for HR professionals.

Length of time

This training consists of 2 consecutive training days..

Support

During the training, you will build your own conversation manual for salary negotiations. In addition, an attending employment lawyer will check whether your explanation aligns with laws and regulations. This ensures that you have a solid foundation.

Continue to grow

Upon successful completion of the training, the participant receives a certificate. The training is also available as in-company-track available.

Wage transparency in modern organizations

Openness about compensation has moved from the exception to the norm in a short time. Applicants see the salary range in the job advertisement, employees compare themselves to one another, and organizations are gradually starting to report on pay differences between men and women. As a result, the conversation about money is shifting from HR to the shop floor. This training helps you develop an explanation method that suits you, your team, and your organization's policy.

Conduct salary negotiations in a way that suits you

During the Salary Transparency training, you will work with objective language, the difference between explaining and defending, and the emotions evoked by a conversation about compensation. You begin with a conversation as you would conduct it today, during a role-play with a critical employee. You work towards identifying objective criteria. Using your own organization's compensation policy as a basis, you construct an explanation that is accurate and that you can present in your own words.

DThe manager under wage transparency: this is what you will learn
