What you think that
What you do is not always
what the customer experiences.

Commercial success is the result of the right mindset, the right questions, and consistent action.

Feel like hitting a ball?

On Friday, September 18, I am organizing a corporate padel tournament together with Kenneth Smit.

Round up a colleague, client, contact, or business partner and form a duo for a sporting challenge full of fun and healthy competition.
In addition to the honor and the victory, a special prize awaits the winning team: a half-day training session with me on a theme of their choice.

Will you be there? I look forward to seeing you on the court on September 18.

About Wesley van der Molen

Sales and communication trainer

After more than ten years in recruitment, Wesley van der Molen knows exactly where commercial conversations stall. As an account manager, business manager, and team leader, he conducted thousands of conversations with clients, candidates, and commercial teams. Additionally, he was active for five years as a coach in elite sports at Sparta Rotterdam, where he worked daily on developing performance under pressure. This combination ensures that he quickly sees which behavior leads to results and which behavior misses opportunities.

According to Wesley, the solution rarely lies in more leads, better arguments, or a new pitch. Much more often, things go wrong in the conversation itself. Salespeople persuade too quickly, listen too little, and allow themselves to be caught off guard by objections they could have seen coming. Just as in top-level sports, the result is often determined by what happens beforehand: the preparation, the focus, and the choices someone makes during a conversation.

That no-nonsense approach is reflected in his training sessions. Wesley speaks the language of sales professionals, connects easily with teams, and keeps the pace high. Sharp when necessary, lighthearted where possible. Participants appreciate his energy, honest feedback, and the fact that he knows what goes on outside the training room.

Whoever wants to win will have to train.

Do you ask the questions that make a difference?

Practical simulations and video feedback reveal what really happens in conversations.

Many professionals know what a good conversation looks like. Until they have to conduct one themselves under pressure. Then it becomes apparent how easily you anticipate an objection, miss an opportunity, or are mostly doing the talking while thinking you are asking questions.

That is why Wesley's training sessions revolve around doing. Just as a top athlete continues to practice essential skills before match day, professionals develop their commercial skills through repetition, feedback, and focused attention. Acquisition calls, objections, negotiations, and client conversations are simulated, recorded, and reviewed. It is precisely at those moments that unconscious patterns become visible. How quickly do you really ask a question? How often do you make assumptions about the other person? And do you maintain control when a conversation takes an unexpected turn?

This yields sometimes confronting, but valuable insights. In this way, they develop skills that hold up even when pressure mounts and a difference is made: at a client's table, on the phone, or during a conversation where an important decision is at stake.
